Cygnar, officially the Kingdom of Cygnar is a parliamentary monarchy in western Immoren.

Etymology

The name "Cygnar" originates from the Cygnus banner used by the Kingdom of Caspia during the rule of Benewic Govant. Govant later became Benewic I of the Kingdom of Cygnar in 203 AR. This banner was a golden swan on a blue field, the enduring symbol of the monarchy. 1

History

Ancient Icthier

In 6500 BR the Menite faithful followed the instruction of their priests and reached the shore of Mermedius where they established the first city, Icthier. Menoth, the Creator of Man, inscribed the Canon of the True Law at Icthier. The True Law established the rule of the Priest-Kings, the chosen of Menoth. The first of these divinely appointed rulers was Cinot who delivered the Gift of the Sheaf. It is said that Cinot turned ash to grain and salt to nectar. The Menites built aqueducts and irrigation canals to water and feed their people. They quarried stone and built mighty walls and dwellings. Their priests and soldiers made war against savage heathens and wild beasts. Cinot led his people for four centuries until his death. 2

In 4000 BR the Time of the Burning Sky wrought great devastation in Icthier. The survivors settled at the mouth of the Black River.
