Dummy text is also used to demonstrate the appearance of different typefaces and layouts, and in general the content of dummy text is nonsensical. Due to its widespread use as filler text for layouts, non-readability is of great importance: human perception is tuned to recognize certain patterns and repetitions in texts. If the distribution of letters and 'words' is random, the reader will not be distracted from making a neutral judgement on the visual impact and readability of the typefaces (typography), or the distribution of text on the page (layout or type area).

For this reason, dummy text usually consists of a more or less random series of words or syllables. This prevents repetitive patterns from impairing the overall visual impression and facilitates the comparison of different typefaces. Furthermore, it is advantageous when the dummy text is relatively realistic so that the layout impression of the final publication is not compromised.

The Protectorate of Menoth, commonly known as The Protectorate [...]

The Protectorate of Menoth is a theocratic nation and the youngest of the Iron Kingdoms. It was originally established as a subservient nation with a nominal allegiance to Cygnar in 484 AR after the Cygnaran Civil War by Cygnaran Menites formerly under the leadership of Hierarch Sulon after the death of their leader in battle at the close of the war. The Protectorate has since expanded its territories and gradually broken all ties to its parent kingdom, culminating in its declaration of war upon Cygnar in 605 AR, with the stated intention of reestablishing the rule of Menoth in Cygnar.

In contrast of the Old Faith prevalent in Khador, the Sul-Menites of the Protectorate are ruled a single person, its Hierarch. The founder of the nation, Visgoth Ozeall, did not use this ancient title out of respect for the memory of Sulon, but his successor Luctine took on the mantle, and the Protectorate have been ruled by Hierarchs ever since. The upper cadres of the Protectorate are its Scrutators. In the Old Faith, the Scrutators serve as temple torturers, but in the Protectorate they occupy all the higher positions of power and most of the Visgoths, the Hierarchs advisory body and regional governors, have been former Scrutators. Currently, the Protectorate of Menoth is ruled by Hierarch Severius, who served as Grand Scrutator during the rule of his predecessor, Hierarch Garrick Voyle, who initiated the war against Cygnar. Severius, who is over eighty years old, has re-instated the old title of Intercessor and given it to the former Grand Exemplar Mikael Kreoss, to preserve the integrity of the Protectorate's leadership when Severius - who holds battlefield commands as well as ruling the Protectorate - eventually dies. The reason Severius created this title anew is likely that he does not trust Feora, the Protector of the Flame and one of the possible future Hierarchs, and wish for Kreoss to prevent her from gaining power after his death.
