History
The Deathripper is the simplest bonejack integrating the arc node, originally the pride of Cygnar. Cryx figured tis technology out by defiling the tombs of innovative engineers and pulling forth their secrets through necromancy. Necrotechs learned how to create arc nodes of their own and improved upon the foreign process by using profane materials and unholy techniques to cheapen and accelerate manufacturing.[1]
Before the introduction of the Deathripper, each bonejack was its own uniquely crafted killing machine, held to no standard of likeness beyond its creator’s own cutthroat caprice and occasionally the tastes of commissioners. The Deathripper became for a time the most sought-after bonejack in Cryx in 502 AR, after half a dozen Deathrippers spearheaded a Cryxian assault on the Cygnaran keep of Crownfort and played a key role in the victory. Necrotechs quickly grew accustomed to fitting most of their creations with snapping jaws, two swift legs, and a humming arc node. It took nearly a decade for mainland defenders to adapt to the speed and arcane flexibility imparted by Cryx’s newest weapon.[2]
In 512 AR, a necrotech created the Defiler by stuffing the Deathripper’s maw with a corrosive acid projector. The Deathripper chassis was further diversified by 588 AR with the invention of the Nightwretch, which was created by exchanging the Defiler’s sludge cannon for a deadly doomspitter.[2]
Properties
The Deathripper is built of blackened iron and steel fused with the skulls and fangs of fearsome, blighted beasts. Powered by wickedly efficient steam engines driven by necrotite — coal laced with death energy — a Deathripper has enough bite force to sever limbs and shear through armoured. In a blur of billowing smoke, wailing metal, and bleeding hydraulics, just a few Deathrippers can strip a light warjack down to its components within minutes.[1]
Deathrippers enter the field as a small swarm of arc node–equipped bonejacks, each a conduit for the devastating arcane power wielded by its controlling warcaster.[1]
The simple and plentiful nature of their components allows assembly of bonejacks in small workshops under almost any conditions. A single necrotech can turn the proper materials into a Deathripper in a matter of days.[2]
