=== Ancient Calacia ===
In 6500 BR the Menite faithful followed migrated west. Following the instruction of their priests and they reached the shore of the Mermedius where they established their first city, Icthier. Menoth, the Creator of Man, inscribed the Canon of the True Law at Icthier. The True Law established the rule of the Priest-Kings, the chosen of Menoth. The first of these divinely appointed rulers was Cinot who delivered the Gift of the Sheaf. It is said that Cinot turned ash to grain and salt to nectar. The Menites built aqueducts and irrigation canals to water and feed their people. They quarried stone and built mighty walls and dwellings. Their priests and soldiers made war against savage heathens and wild beasts. Cinot led his people for four centuries until his death. The city of Icthier however remained the center of Menite civilization long after the death of Cinot. <sup>2a</sup>
In 4000 BR the Time of the Burning Sky wrought great devastation in Icthier. The survivors abandoned Icthier and settled at the mouth of the Black River. For centuries these small villages kept their Menite faith. Subjected to attacks by horrible monsters and barbarous tribes they stubbornly held on. In 2800 BR the Warrior-Priest Valent Thrace united these scattered communities into a single state. They set to quarrying stone and felling timber to raise the walls of a fortress which was named the Hold of Calacia. These stone walls became known as the Shield of Thrace. <sup>2b</sup>
In 2230 BR the Priest-King Golivant I was born. As an adult he led the armies of Calacia against the various Molgur tribes which had preyed on the Menite people for a thousand years. They advanced into the west, slaying the savages and burning their villages. In retaliation the Molgur gathered to the call of Horfar Grimmr, a great chieftain among the trollkin. The trollkin, ogrun, bogrin, and human worshipers of the Devourer Wurm flocked to Grimmr and formed a vast horde under his direction. United they lay siege to Calacia. <sup>2c</sup>
Golivant bested Grimmr in combat and the great chieftain was taken prisoner. After watching their champion tortured and executed the Molgur abandoned the siege and withdrew to the forests and mountains. <sup>2c</sup> Golivant spent the next ten years breaking the power of the Molgur, finally succeeding in 2200 BR by driving the Molgur from the Wyrmwall Mountains.<sup>2d</sup> Never again would the Molgur be united as a single people. <sup>2c</sup>
After the death of Priest-King Golivant I, Calacia disintegrated into warring parties and Priest-King Golivant II was killed. It was not until 2051 BR that Priest-King Golivant III took power and reunited the Menites of the Black River. <sup>2c</sup> In 2050 BR <sup>2d</sup> he reconsecrated the city of Calacia to Menoth and named it Caspia. <sup>2d</sup> The city was greatly expanded and new fortifications were erected. In time these new defenses would lead to the city being named the City of Walls.<sup>2c</sup>
