Cygnar, officially the Kingdom of Cygnar is a parliamentary monarchy in western Immoren.

Etymology

The name "Cygnar" originates from the Cygnus banner used by the Kingdom of Caspia during the rule of Benewic Govant. Govant later became Benewic I of the Kingdom of Cygnar in 203 AR. This banner was a golden swan on a blue field, the enduring symbol of the monarchy. 1

History

Ancient Thrace

The lands near the mouth of the Black River were in ancient times called Thrace by the Menites who settled there. In 2800 BR Priest-King Valent of Thrace, a descendant of the Priest-King Cinot united the scattered villages under his benevolent rule. They began construction of the city known as the Hold of Calacia. This was the first city built since the destruction of Icthier during the Time of the Burning Sky in 4000 BR. With walls of quarried stone and felled timber, Calacia became known as the "Shield of Thrace," and served as capital and refuge of the Thracian Menites. The Thracian people became known as Calacians as the centralized state emerged around the city. 2

The first noteworthy Priest-King of Calacia after Valent was Golivant.
